Man, he could have had a family of Mexican kids!!

I just thought it was funny that his children and grandchildren all looked nowhere near Irish. They got that strong Peurto Rican gene I guess.

That didn't need to be said.

Because it was so obvious or because you're accusing me of being a racist?

reply

That whole ending sequence was pretty ridiculous once he got off the bus and Naturelle was there at the bus stop waiting

reply

No, you didn't get it. He had been living in the little desert town for a few years and he contacted her and she came out to meet him. She got off the bus, not him.

reply

Yes, and it was intentionally so you smart cookie. He was fantasising.

reply

This, they did not look believable as his kids, at all.

reply

I reckon they should have left it at Naturelle getting off the bus, the New Year scene and that's it. It would've been enough for us to believe he lived a long, happy life. I didn't need to see their children, it actually ruined it a little lol

Oh, nice socks, man. Nice socks. Nice socks.

reply

Kind of an afterthought to the whole story really though wasn't it? It's not like spending months recruiting a perfect selection of half Puerto Rican/Half Irish kids of various ages would have improved the film at all. Edward Norton doesn't look at all Irish anyway.

reply

They could have gotten some ethnic looking Italian, Greek, and biracial actors and actresses to portray the family, not that hard to find in NY.

Seriously, the kids would have been half white and they looked even more ethnic than Rosario Dawson did.

reply

The children's excessively ethnic appearance was intentional. The point was to underscore that Monty was fantasizing; hence, the unrealism of that scene.
