Possible DVD release?

I emailed Enoki as I think they have the rights to this series and got this reply:

We are working on a new release and should know more within the first 3 months of 2008.

Hi

I was wondering if you could let me know if you have any plans to release the classic 1980s series X-Bomber (or Star Fleet as it was known to me in the UK) on DVD in the USA or UK?

I know that it has quite a cult following and is sought after by many people here in the UK.

Thanks in advance.

Jevarell

Hopefully this means something will be in the pipeline for 2008 and wasn't just a standard answer to fob me off!

After reading your message I was very curious whether it was a bluff or not so I sent them an email also and got the following reply.

We are in discussion however had not yet confirmed a plan. Please check back in a few months.
Thanks,

Subject: DVD release of X-Bomber AKA Star Fleet

Hi there

Terribly sorry to trouble you but I’ve heard rumours online that Enoki may be releasing X-Bomber (Star Fleet to us Brits) on DVD.
Excited at prospect, as I was a huge fan when it was originally released in the UK, I just had to email and find whether there is any truth to this?
I would love to have the opportunity to buy it on DVD and I’m sure many more would feel the same due to the cult status that it enjoys in the UK.

Look forward to hearing you say “Yes, it will be released on DVD” :)

We just need loads of people to get in touch with them and then they will realise that it might just be worth doing.
Whilst writing this I just went ahead and set up an online petition http://www.gopetition.com/online/16192.html
Might seem a little silly but who knows, if enough people sign it!!!!

Well David, it's certainly worth a try!

I tried to post the info on the forum on the most popular Star Flet website: www.sfxb.co.uk but for some weird reason it wouldn't let me post even after I had registered on it!

A shame as this probably is the best/most popular site known to UK fans.

It's happening guys!

I got am email this morning from Fabulous Films, who are releasing The Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD here in the U.K., and marks the first time anywhere English lagauage version will be available offically! At the bottom of the email it stated "Forthcoming product alert: Star Fleet/ X-Bomber coming to DVD, check www.sfxb.co.uk for a refresher"

Well, I did indeed go to sfxb.co.uk, being going there for years, but nothing seem to happen fo a LONG time, so I just stopped visiting. Well, and lo and behold Star Fleet IS coming to DVD! Now, hopefully this won't just be for the U.K., as I know that in the past Fab. films have catered for our bothers and sisters overseas.

Time to get excited methinks!!!

This is blooming marvellous!!!
I bought the entire series from a bloke on Ebay, good presentation but definately a homebrew effort although it is quite watchable but to get it with some cool artwork and maybe some extras is fantastic.
By the way, how many people have seen the pictures of the models used in this? they are HUGE!!! the X-Bomber was over 6 foot long! it is incredible when you look at the dynamism of the space battles and realise that they had these enormous models whizzing around. Puts Gerry Anderson to shame in that regard.

I wish! That's pretty awesome. I was given to understand that they trashed most of the models after the show ended. That's pretty sad. I wonder if any remain a la Thunderbirds?

I never gave it much thought, though we all knew that Dai-X was the tradional Japanese guy in a suit.

Roll on August- at last an official release.
