Am I alone in thinking....

....that, for a puppet show, this series was vastly superior to a lot of Gerry Anderson's puppet shows (no disperspect intended towards Mr. Anderson, btw) Especially its western contemporary, Terrahawks. For example, Star Fleet (a.k.a "Ekusu Bonba") in my mind, had more get-up-and-go. In Terrahawks, it was the Zeroids who did most of the dirty work. There didn't seem to be that much action, compared to SF. The puppets in Star Fleet looked more realistic (in an anime sort of way)

Did anybody else find that to be the case?

So this is how liberty dies-with thunderous applause?

No, you are not! I can still remember thinking "how do they make the ships float in space?". Im watching it now and I still dont know! There was fire, sparks all sorts of stuff going on.

Star Fleet is awesome!

No, you're not alone. I was a kid at the time and I remember Terrahawks being advertised in Look-In, but it was a terrible disappointment in comparison to Star Fleet. The characters were dull and looked odd and although it was a lot pacier than Thunderbirds the plots didn't grab me. I remember being scared by Yung-Starr, though. With the drooling.

In contrast Star Fleet looked awesome, still looks awesome, and it was the first time I'd ever seen Japanese-style characterisation, so it had a fresh, modern style to it. And the music was great. Shame it had to end.

But! Along came Ulysses 31! Which was just as awesome. In fact I almost forgot Star Fleet, when I was older, because I don't think it was ever repeated in the UK.

Speed metal soundtrack + Japanese visuals + epic plots = WIN

Also, going on what I've read, it would appear that Terrahawks is
viewed as an embarrassment by Anderson and some of
the production team who worked on the show.
