Did anybody else love this show?

Saturday mornings in the U.K in the 80s were excellent!! This was one of the best shows on ITV! I so remember the music ( "who will come and save us now!?..STARRRR FLEET STARRRRR FLEET!" ) and the fact that the villain, Commander Makara was a complete evil b***h!
I vividly recall her slapping Lamia in one scene and the fact that unlike other conventional kiddie shows, the main characters actually got killed off in some episodes.
This goes down as one of the shows that i loved alongside other 80s classics like He-Man, She-Ra, M.A.S.K and off course Thundercats.

my mate made a model out of lego of that big cat-fish battle cruiser space ship. it was cool. anyone else watch terrahawks aswell? that was also a cool sci-fi related puppet show.

Sure thing! The series was aired also in Finland, and as a toddler I used to love it. I remember vividly, that the last episode was somewhat epic - all was about to be lost as that nasty blobbish supervillain made a wreck out of the huge robot and so on, but I believe that good guys triumphed in the end. DVD release would be sweet!

You are right, Dai-X was destroyed and the crew killed. For a kids show this really wasn't afraid to pull any punches. As it also killed off the two strongest male characters- Dr Ben and Captain Carter, as well as kidnapping and torturing the heroin, Lamia.

They don't make them like they used to!

Just watched the last episode again and sorry to disagree with you but Dai-X isn't destroyed and the crew survives.
But as far as the main topic is concerned, this was a must watch show. They just don't make shows like this anymore.

I've only just had someone identify this show today from the "I want to know" forum. I was only 8 years old when it showed in the UK but remembered it. Just ordered the DVD from Amazon.

A very old post I know, but just to nit pick. The crew of Dai X were killed in the last episode, but F01 brought them back to life.

This is a classic tv program for it's time. I was about thirteen at the time (possibly a little older than the demographic), but I enjoyed this show. I remember one scene in particular about a possible execution and a guillotine that was eerily effective.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!
