Why would an American want to see such a crappy movie ?
How sad that Jack Neo's propaganda pieces appear to be the best that we in Singapore can offer.
There's a very good Singaporean movie from about a decade back, titled "12 Storeys", but not many have actually heard of it. (Link here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120116/)
Another splendid movie made by a Singaporean (a collaboration with a Vietnamese director) is Johnathan Foo's "Song of the Stork". Unfortunately, this movie was not released for mainstream viewing. (Link here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0281209/)

Why would you say that, eastasia? You don't know. I am an American, and enjoyed this movie. I'm fluent in Mandarin, though my Hokkien is only so-so.
shareI watched it just now, and really enjoyed it. The humor was good and I loved the social and political commentary. Though I am American, I have been studying Singapore culture (I may live there some day) and was able to understand the issues in the film.
