Just watched this lacklustre (IMO) production last night..
I'm thinking, but may be wrong due to (what I'd say is below par direction), that she intentionally didn't switch the jewelry because she KNEW idiot boy would be robbing the store. So much is left out of the actual dialogue & plot, it's tough to remember now if she had knowledge of the night they were planning for the heist to occur, but in keeping with the nature of the film as I saw it, I'm going to assume that she knew..
So, yes, the real jewels weren't boosted, but I think she was fibbing to her manager when she said she "forgot."
