Original Soundtrack

Hello,
I wonder if the original soundtrack album of this movie is out yet? I have been doing some search about it in the internet but so far I have come up with nothing.
Please let me know if any of you have a clue..

Hi. I found the soundtrack at www.fnac.com. This French shop often stocks soundtracks which never seem to be distributed over here. It is stunning music from a glorious film, so hope you get hold of it! Luise

I would really love to get the soundtrack. I hope to find it here in Australia. Most of the pieces are good, I am in love with the guitar now. Does anybody know the name of the song Max plays while the teacher boils water and then collapses? I love it, is it original for the film or traditional?

Yes you're right, I'd just sort of figured it out, but thanks for the confirmation. It's really lovely! I know the notes now, but it seems hard to find recordings. I'd just love to listen to it all day!

i just watched Swing. lovely movie. the girl reminds me of myself. at any rate, do you know the part where the boy and girl are playing in the canal with a little boat and the gramophone is on this boat...what's the name of the song??

I'm not sure...it's been a while since I've seen it. Do you have access to the soundtrack? You could listen and see if you recognise it. I think it might be on the soundtrack.

it has 16 tracks, and has indeed, good music on it,
now i only have to see this movie.....

Tony Gatlif laat ons na de flamenco in Vengo, kennismaken met de "manouche" muziek in de wereld van de zigeuners. De kleine Franse jongen Max verblijft tijdens de zomervakantie bij zijn grootmoeder en wordt gefascineerd door de manier waarop de 'manouche' gitaar bespeeld wordt. Hij vindt zich een muziekleraar, een zigeuner, en begint ook meer te leren over de mensen in deze omgeving. Hij ontmoet er het zigeunermeisje Swing, even oud als hij, maar een stuk zelfzekerder, brutaler en rijper. Max brengt hele dagen door in het kamp van de zigeuners. Hij ontdekt een nieuwe wereld, waar dansen en muziek vaste ingrediënten van het dagelijkse leven zijn.
Swing is eigenlijk een term die lang geassocieerd bleef met jazz. De swing in deze film verwijst naar de swing manouche stijl, ontstaan naar het voorbeeld van de legendarische gitarist Django Reinhardt. Dit genre is niet alleen sterk verbonden met de Tzigane cultuur en wordt vandaag doorgaans algemeen geassocieerd met de zigeuner muziek.
De eerste tracks op de cd zijn erg ritmische dansmuziek uitgevoerd door een vaste kern van gitaar, viool, contrabas, en afhankelijk van de tracks aangevuld met mandolie, accordeon, drums tot klein orkest. Daarnaast zijn een aantal typische zigeuner songs uit de film op de cd te vinden. Vrijwel alle muziek is eerder source music, muziek die je ziet op het scherm, wat dit wel de originele soundtrack van de film maakt, maar in mindere mate een filmscore. De soundtrack is best wel ok, bruisend van ritme en heeft enkele zeer sterke nummers, al moet je misschien wel eerder fan zijn van dit specifiek genre of de film absoluut gezien hebben om de muziek ten volle te appreciëren.
