Did Kelvin die before the ending? (Not really a spoiler)

There is a scene near the end when Kelvin is having a troubled sleep, alone on the bed. His visitor left to get herself blasted by that ray gun.

There is one scene where it shows a large hole ripped in the wall of his room, twisted metal, blood, and beyond it, outer-space. Is it possible that he died from some accident and now HE is a visitor to someone else? If not, why show that image? Just a bad dream?

Pretty sure youre not supposed to believe anything what happens as early as he even sees solaris. The only sane thing to do is black hole solaris into oblivion.

The increase in human knowledge is the cause of the decline of religions.

Why would you want to destroy Solaris?

Did Solaris really do anything positive? It was basically collecting people's consciousnesses.

Solaris certainly played a part in the demise of those who came near it. It played off their emotions and memories until they self-destruct: In a way, it was a predator and that was the bait it set.

Unless you view your conscious being trapped in a planet/alien life force and tricking you into believing you're living in bliss, I'm going to say it's best to remove that thing completely.
