Almost a form of meditation...

I've watched this movie many times, and each time I feel completely calm and chilled-out. This is my go-to movie when I'm stressed and wound up. Anyone else feel the same after watching this movie?

reply

Absolutely!

I too found this film remarkably relaxing, so much so that after a while I gently dozed off, although my peaceful slumber was disturbed by the strange speech impediment of Natascha McElhone. Still, overall it was a very restful experience, rather like listening to the sounds of whales.

Seems like a common thing among some of Soderbergh's movies.

I like Contagion for much of the same reason, the soundtrack and the shot constructions are quite interesting to glaze over even with the content extracted.

Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES!

reply

Yeah, it's called boring.

reply

yeah , i used to listen to the soundtrack while stuying, it also had a great effect on my grade

reply

Its the soundtrack by Martinez, and the sound effect background 'drone' of the spaceship. Its relaxing, very similar to Brian Eno albums.

Very calming, layered, thought-provoking movie. Sadly, movie making like this is a dying art.

Fantastic atmosphere and story space. Although unfortunately I felt it was too short. Definitely could've enjoyed it for another half hour or more but I guess that's Soderbergh for you. Makes me want to rewatch the original though. Only watched it once and there's so much to take in so I'll surely appreciate it even more the second time.

reply

Yes! I go in there sometimes, and I love it.
