some questions and comments, and which was your favorite?

interesting movie, to hear the man discuss the way he thinks,
is fascinating as it shows why he creates the way he does.

1. what was the tattoo on his arm, seen in the restaurant. "the man"?

2. what was the name of the rock that is ground up to be red.

3. what did you think of the music that went with it? as good art as his art?

4. did he invent the big rock "seeds"? or was it an Indian thing or something that he copied?

5. what was your most favorite of his creations?

my fave was the tall "seed" rock sculpture that survived a tidal change.

1. i have no idea about his personal history but it made me think of old army tattoos

2. don't know. any rock with lots of iron in it could do the trick.

3. as good as? no. it fit the subject matter well (most of the time) but/and was easy to ignore.

4. i am guessing you mean his cairns. he didn't invent them, and he says this in the documentary. piles of rocks were built for centuries as guides or place markers. his cairns might be a change in form from these, but the basic idea isn't his. (however, i doubt that when people built them for guiding purposes they weren't build like his. they seem too temporary. a large pile of rocks might have been better, like a cone, so that a mount of rocks would stay for a long time. but this could be completely wrong...i'm just conjecturing.)

5. i always enjoy what he does with icicles more than anything else....or just ice for that matter. i wish they had shown more of those!
