theater version vs. DVD version

According to the info on imdb, the DVD version is 12 minutes shorter than the version shown in theaters. If so, what was cut out of the DVD version? (I have only seen the movie on DVD).

reply

nothing was cut out of the DVD version - the labeling is wrong; it is the same running time as the theatrical version

are there special features?
it's listed on the blockbuster box but i don't see any..?

reply

No! Blockbuster is stupid and they labeled it wrong.

I think I need more parts...

The DVD has no 'special features' beyond including the trailer.

That said...

I went & got the IFC 'reality' show Rocked with Gina Gershon. Its a 6-episode show which centered on Gina having to get out & promote Prey... by assembling a band (i.e. hiring the indie group Girls Against Boys) and hitting the road to play songs from the movie in night clubs across the country, as well as the usual media junket appearances expected of her. The series is a GREAT companion piece to Prey....

One thing that caught my eye, though, is in episode 2. An ill Gina puts in an appearance at a screening of Prey.... The interesting thing is that when the movie ends, Lori Petty's character is VERY MUCH ALIVE singing with Gina's character, before they end by mugging for the camera, and then the credits come up, along w/ the music that ends the movie.

I don't know if that was a cut scene or if the movie was supposed to end on a higher note. One thing's for sure, if the producers screened a gag reel for those few that attended this 1 screening of Prey... its a shame the reel wasn't included in the DVD. And if there IS an alternate ending, why'd they choose to go w/ the way we know the movie ends?

Hmn...

^^Wow, really? Why didn't they end it like that?
