Very fun!

This film was made by Kang Woo suk.He is the most important director in Korea.
He is a talented man.His style is very creative. You guys,American will never understand his comedy. This is the Korean comedy for Korean. That's the point!
And his film 'Silmido' is better than 'Taekukgi'.Kang Jye Kyu must learn about film making and sense of humor from Kang Woo suk!

Anyone with a functioning brain would probably enjoy this movie.
Korean Dirty Harry gets his man. And makes a right mess doing it. Lovely.

Yeah this movie is good.

Got Bacon?

Enjoyed every second of this, does anyone know if Woo-Suk Kang is a Lynch fan? The
traffic cop with the hearing aid reminded me of Lynch's character Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks. Wondering if it was a nod from Kang.

I would say Park Chan Wook is more important.

I don't know about americans, but I' m French, and I found myself lauging all the way threw the movie. I thought it was all second degree humour, and especially the way the main character, the cop, is played. I thought he was so full of style.
I showed the movie to friends, but they didn't get the second degree humour, and I looked around on the internet, and the film is not very well rated, and no one talks about the humour. I was seriously doubting to find someone thinking like me, until I found this post.
I saw this movie three times, and right now, I' m going to watch it a fourth time...
Second degree, guys, second degree ...

great movie with a quirky sense of humour and good acting especially from the bad-guy

reply

I'm sorry, but to the original poster, you are an idiot.

Why?

I found this movie extremely funny at parts, and quite enjoyable overall as a good crime movie. But I still found the humor in it.

And I'm an American.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

Mr. Kang? Is that you??

Okay. Its been more than 10 years from the OP.
While this film is indeed great, where is Kang Woo Suk now?
He simply became irrelevant and overshadowed by much better directors Choi donghoon, Ryu seungwan, Park chanwook, Kim jeewoon, and Bong joonho.

Silmido was an overrated trash propaganda. Taekukgi is still beloved by many.
Although Kang jyekyu also became pretty irrelevant these days.

And your disgusting generalization that foreigners won't understand this film's humor is infuriating.
Most laughs are slapstick with occassional dark humor. Nothing is new.

I am a Korean myself and I say your post is load of crap.
Oh well it has been almost 11 years.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down and a Wagging Finger of Shame
