Princess Lunna!

Princess Lunna can hardly be called a princess with flat-chested Piper Perabo playing the daughter of King Edgar ironically loving a dragon (the captor) and her offspring for having an unique understanding! At one moment she is been shown as an innocent little girl scared of being alone in a far away place, and in the next instance here she takes on a bunch of bandits like an experienced warrior in the crusades. To me it was the worst character in the entire movie. Pity that good ones like George, Wryn and Elmendorf had to suffer from such a weak link.

Btw, I have nothing against Perabo. It's just that her character didn't do any good to the movie at all.

I agree with the prevoius post.

The character of Princess Lunna seems somehow incoherent. Nothing to say, of course, about the actress: just talking about the character.

yeah, she played the part really well. But its the way the character was written.

Also, to any people of the UK... how's her accent? Or to you, the lack there of. It seemed to me like she did a great job on it, but I don't know how it would sound to an actual British person.

Luna: We have a small problem.
George: It's a big problem. We have a 'small' dragon.

her accent is absolutely hideous in this film...it's so over the top and affected...she tries too hard to sound like an authentic Brit, but in the end she sounds like a joke...

don't get me wrong...I love Piper Perabo...I think she's really talented and I love some of her films...but I think her dialect coach could probably have done a better job there...lol...

on the other hand...only an year later...she played another english character in "Imagine Me & You" and her accent was lovely...it was not perfect...but much better!!!

I'm not English, but I work in a British company...surrounded by real Brits...from 9 to 5 everyday...so I've learnt how to spot a phony accent...lol

I'm English and I can tell you that her 'British' accent is pretty terrible in this film.
Reminds me of Dick Van Dyke.

Love her in other films, its just the accent that lets her down.

That was a joke, they say she's innocent, and right afterwards they show her taking out those "whatever they were". It was supposed to be funny! After all it's some kind of comedy.

I'm sure the writer's thought it was supposed to be funny. I suspect it is meant to be some kind of comedy. The question is what kind of comedy?

If you must know, it's called dramatic irony. Now granted, it's not very subtle in its execution, but it seems to have slipped past at least a few of the posters on these boards.

Wasn't that Garth saying that about her?
Garth was on several other things wrong about her in quite an obvious way which was in style with his character.

...I like to think that a seemingly "lamb-like" princess (saw it in italian, so some words may not be the same in english), after living alone and fending off for herself, has managed to find the strengh in herself to live the dreams and ambitions she probably had to "squash" because of her role.

...Plus, her maternal instincts kicked in while taking care of the egg, and I think that a mother's love, be it for actual offsprings or not, is one of the strongest powers in the world.

...I try to find the good of every movie I see and, apart from few exceptions (*cough*Eragon*cough*), I always enjoy watching them at least once.

Her English accent is TRAGIC, but worth watching purely for the comedic value.

How the heck do these people get these gigs?

Did she not do an audition?
