The horses made the movie

I wish the humans had half the personality and appeal the horses did. Gorgeous to a one, they all looked blooded and bred, with great training and eye appeal.

I could say the same of some of the actors, such as Kilmer, Swayze and Duncan - BUT, the script was so weak and obvious.

Just once, could we have a highly literate script without the "barump bum" humor? Ribald humor, yes. Sly, sophisticated humor, definitely. But this movie needed something more than the obvious.

One truly personal gripe - the new tendency for the "human stink of it all." Ok, so we know they didn't bathe often in the Dark Ages. But do we really need scratch 'n sniff movies? Watching people ooze with sweat and grime is just damn nauseating. Wash up, people!!! You'll look better to the audience.
