Was anyone surprised over...

SPOILERS: ...That Paolo was all the time just tricking Lizzie?

reply

I was. I was like O.O. WHAT THE HELL PAOLO? WHAT THE HEEEELLLLLL?

And then I calmed down and sipped some hot cocoa. The anger went away.

"Don't try to fix me. I'm not broken."

I was also quite surprised, it was a turning point on the climax.

First time I saw it, I did NOT see that coming at all. But, then again, I was around 11 or 12 when the movie came out and never really thought to look for a motive. Now I just wonder about when he came up with the scheme, was he at all genuinely interested before he started plotting, what's really going on in his head (I think it would be really interesting to see a cartoon Paolo like we do with Lizzie during the scheming), and why he thought it would actually work. I mean, sure, he would get his revenge for a few minutes or hours before the truth came out, but after that? Isabella's PR people would be all over clearing her name (honestly, I still wonder why her people didn't tell her sooner, since it seems like at least 3-5 days pass before she comes back to Italy), interviews would be given with both Lizzie and Isabella, and then everyone would know how big a scumbag he really was anyway, so why bother? But overall, even now I think it's a great twist for the film.

Why did I write? Because I found life unsatisfactory.

I was 10 when the movie came out and saw it in theaters....my friends and I were all shocked at the time but watching it again ten years later, it's not exactly subtle. But at the time to me it was a twist on par with Bruce Willis being dead.

A STATEMENT IS IRRELEVANT UNLESS IT IS WRITTEN IN CAPS LOCK
