What the hell...? Spoilers alert.

I'm sorry, but I had to ask, urgently. I am a fan of David Lynch's work and I have seen a few of his movies. I have to say that, although that mystery and "eeriness" his movies are about appeal me very much, I am sometimes a little apprehensive before watching them, because I am highly suggestible. Believe me, being this way is terrible. Anyway, I wanted to know what this is all about, what the heck is this movie, what happens, how it begins, how it ends, what can possibly be Lynch's point, and everything. With spoilers and all. If no one minds, of course. I already read the other thread which asks this too but it didn't enlighten me.

Thank you.

I have a friend that would agree with you. I have the Lynch version of Eraserhead DVD sitting on my DVD case. She will not sit down till I put it away. Lynch (and Jodorowsky)just creeps her out too much. She was apartment sitting while I was away and would only agree to do it if that DVD was nowhere in the apartment.

There is an asian woman, talking into the camera, telling the viewer that 'I have a friend. She is in a darkened room' She has a bad accent, and its too funny to be surreal and scary in the Lynch sense. The film would be much better without her. However, the rest of the short is actually pretty good. There is a blonde girl, looking into the camera and crying out for help. You feel that you are her only key. Realizing you wont come, she then cries for anybody. She says 'Come Out'. A brunette walks through her door, and talks to her in a threatening way. What is she saying? Who the hell knows. Just things like 'You know that this is all your fault right? You know that don't you. The watches didn't even work', but eventually it gets good when she says 'You know theres nothing you can do about this thing thats happening to you. And even if you could, it's a little late dont you think?' It ends with her giving some kind of proposition or last resort and saying 'Interested?' I think basically, it's supposed to be somebody's dream. She does say something somewhere along the line like 'What if I told you this isn't a dream? That this was really happening to you.' After the last line of dialogue, we stare at the blonde protagonist (possibly) for about 10-15 seconds, and zoom into her eye before the fade to black. Don't know if it sounds good, but it is. Nothing spectacular, but I'm suprised Lynch fans on this page are so critical of it.

The music, which is very subtle, is incredibly surreal and amazing. Hope that helps..

I was a little skeptical that this was Lynch when I first started watching, but as it went on it sure FEELS like Lynch. I understand about being suggestible. I love David Lynch even though he can make me afraid of myself. The Darkened Room had this effect on me. It feels like being doomed to some sort of hell hand-picked for me alone. It brings up feelings of paranoia, being trapped, and wondering who the hell I am. And still I ask for more. I really hope this is expanded into a longer film. I've read someone say that they thought Inland Empire was a kind of expansion of this. This felt different to me though. Enter at your own risk. Maybe have some good comedic video at the ready to watch after, and I think you will keep your head about you.
