I just watched the movie as well,almost a year after you. What i gathered from the scene is that initially he was mad at Jim about the whole "sweet black ass" comment because he felt that Jim wanted to use him for his Mandingo fantasy. Yet it then seems he gets over it by defending Jim in front of his friend.
I think what ended the relationship is that Jim was first coming into this whole gay thing,and Perry had already been it for awhile. He was past the experimenting stage, the going out,ect... he was just looking for someone to settle down with and complete him, and he knew that at that point Jim wasn't ready for that. That is what i gathered from their post-sex conversation.
