Re-watching - Amazing fact

It's amazing more people don't love this show. Maybe is started 5-7 years later when social media took off maybe it would have.

Aside from the brilliant acting and story telling and realism, consider this:

For a show about about cops and drug dealers, no cops ever fire their weapons...except one. The only cop on the fire his weapon is Prez - in the squad room, at the towers, and killing another cop. NO other cop ever fires a gun.

That is realism. Despite all the talk of police shootings, most all go their entire careers without firing their weapon in the line of duty.

It is a subtle thing, but one of the little things that makes this show so great.

I retired after 30 years on the job and rarely if ever watch "cop: shows. I watched this series last year and found it to be one of the most realistic law enforcement portrayals ever.

Aside from a very few things, it was spot on.

I call this^ high praise, indeed.

Perhaps I can ask you: Is the use of the term "a police," as in "Did you always want to be a police?" and "That fool shot a police" common, or maybe just a Baltimore thing?

reply

I've personally never heard that term phrased like that so you may be right...a Baltimore or Northern thing.

Thanks for your replies!

Realistic and hilarious as well. :-)

It's a great great show, just a bit to depressing and cynic for me, but that's just me. The only flaws I find are the contrived full circle ending and brother Mouzone. Other than that pretty perfect.

Kind of a third strike kind of thing with Prez firing a gun.

Also, if this bothered you with the sadness. stay away from The Corner if you haven't seen it. Just a terribly dark and almost hopeless story that happened to be true.
