Don't blame "Seinfeld Curse"

I really enjoyed this show in its first run with the little clock gimmick. (Yeah it was a gimmick, but a good one)
Then when they brought it back without that and with a laugh track, and made it into just another crappy sitcom, it was over. I remember the first episode of the final season, wondering, "What have they done? They've just killed the show!"

Anyone else feel that way, like some network decision took the creativity or just uniqueness of the show away to get it in line with what we're supposed to want?

Well, I didn't like the clock, or the show in the beginning anyway. But I admit it was better than the "regular sitcom" (ps: it wasn't a laugh track, it was a studio audience).

I agree. I watched it a few times the first half season and liked it a lot, and then when I saw the new version, I was disappointed, although it had its moments. She is a great performer and she put together a great show. Someone lost the faith.

I liked the second season better. The real time gimmick didn't work for me (just like it doesn't work for me on 24), and the clock was annoying. I liked the normal "sitcom feel" of the second season.

First off the stupid timer was just that stupid and the show blew because she was a hardcore bitch in it and had none of her charm to balance out her character the british guy was as stale as year old crackers and really when you have to hang a show on some stupid time gimmick popularized by ONE show a year earlier you gotta realise the comedy is going to be lacking

The clock was annoying. It totally had me focused on it and waiting for the show to end.

i liked the clock in the first episode - where there was a time limit for returning the necklece (i believe) After that there was no point to it and I found it annoying

The clock is indeed stupid, but the Seinfeld curse is indeed real, all of the spinoff shows where terrible and cancelled in short runs.
