Didn't it switch to a multi-camera setting in the second season? I remember wanting to check it out when it first aired, but i didn't get around to it until season 2 and i thought "hmm, why would i want to watch this?" (i'm not a big fan of muti-camera shows anymore)

They originally had the show as a single camera, but NBC pulled it off the schedule to make some changes.
It appeared the next season as a multi-camera show without the infamous clock in the bottom of the screen, much more like a traditional show.
So, no you didn't imaging that happening.
