Surprisingly Moving

I watched this movie on it's first run on PBS years ago on a Sunday. I was feeling down that day having recently gotten a divorce and losing my job, and was totally caught off guard with how moving this doc is. I watched it straight thru during a telethon fundraiser, which is no small feat on my part. I had no idea Clemens went through the hell and battled such fierce personal demons as he did and kept fighting on, giving his wonderful commentary along the way. I really recommend this film to anyone, but if you're feeling down and life's kicking you in the rear, you are obligated to watch the story of someone who mastered it. I don't know, maybe because I didn't know much about Twain, it made it have more impact, but it was unexpectedly inspirational to me as well as entertaining.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

Same. It's been a little over a year since I first watched it, and I'm already watching it a second time.
