I saw the DVD's extras: M. X. Oberg tells that he is already preparing work on part 2... But no hint about that anywhere in the internet.
My DVD (Code 2) seems to have the same picture corruption as the video I rent from the video store before: around 45:05 min where Angela is entering the bridge to deposit her money. Anyone else with this corruption?
No corruption on my Region 1 copy at 45:05 or anywhere else.
The only extras on the R1 version are some text pages ostensibly written by Oberg about Winkel and the production. Nothing about a part 2.
The dvd seems poorly put together. It's on a 2-layer stamp but it's less than 4.5Gb.
The R2 (German) DVD contains the following extras:
1. an approx. 15 min making-of video
2. a picture gallery with (original German) audio comments from X. Oberg
3. a trailer
In the gallery (2.) X. Oberg says (in German, last sentence in the gallery):
"... in the sequel to this movie -- that we are currently preparing -- we want to create a studio-copy of all required Tokyo locations from the beginning on."
I have a Region 1 version, and there is no problem at 45:05, as you have described here.
Sixteen years later and still no sign of a sequel.
