Doyle Bramhall II

Excellent guitarist but horrible vocalist. He nearly ruins many of the Dark Side tracks, as well as 'Comfortably Numb.' I would have rather Roger take the lead (I know, not the ideal situation but eh...) or Jon Carin. Carin was wonderful on 'Dogs' and he sings lots of backup. Perhaps he should have gotten some of Bramhall's lead vocal parts.

Senor, senor,
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or armageddon?

And what a macho!...

oh well, i didn't like him as a guitarist even, i think he should be on a metal band, i somehow felt offended that this guy is playing David Gilmour's solos, i think snowy white is much much better, i think on Live in Berlin his parts was the only cover i liked for Comfortably numb end solo, i just can't understand why roger worked with this Doyle. as back band wise, i think david gilmour got much better band on David Gilmour - Live in Concert(unplugged) i think also music wise it was much better than In The Flesh, atleast he made something new with pink's music, and the important thing was that it was actuly gr8

I thought Doyle (www.doylebramhallii.com) did good but nobody's going to take over Gilmour's part that'll satisfy me completely.

Still, a magnificent concert (and DVD) which confirms Waters greatness to me. Yes, he's playing in a tribute band to Pink Floyd but so is David Gilmour with his Pink Floydish.

After seeing these guys playing together on Live8 (which brought me to tears) I'm even more saddened by them being split.

Here's hoping they see some sense and can see the bigger picture.

i strongly disagree, doyle brings something modern and stylish in this video, a great contrast between old and new, full match.
this one is the best concert i have see, by now!

I thought Bramhall II was great...if you heard the arrangements during the "K.A.O.S." tour, the arrangements on the "In the Flesh" tour--vocals included--are a great improvement. I went to two shows from this tour and they were the two best concerts I'd ever been to. The dvd is fantastic.

I kinda felt he was a little to big-headed by just the way he presented himself on stage. Like through the first 40 minutes or something of the show he's chewing gum or something and it just looks like he doesn't even care or realize that he's doing a concert with Roger Waters. And yeah, his vocals aren't that fitting for what's supposed to be heard.

He can play the guitar very well though, I'll give him that.

reply

He was not a huge Waters or Floyd fan before the tour. He was just a musician that Roger wanted to work with. I like his guitar work, and I think his vocals--again--are much better than Paul Carrack doing "Breathe" on the KAOS tour, or Van Morrison doing "Comfortably Numb". But of course, he's no Gilmour, you're right there.

I was happy to see Jon Carin in Roger's band for the last two tours. He is an AMAZING musician and re-created the sound of "Dogs" in a way that was phenomenal.

Bramhall is terrible, playing, and even worse singing, like in "Breathe", along with Fairweather Low, they both killed the song, Andy chose to play accoustic! that was so absurd, the lack of power, and John Carin's slide just sound horrible, by far the worst song here, but i still enjoy this DVD much better than pulse, Roger is brilliant.

I don't think Bramhill's playing was terrible, but his stage presence was kind of obnoxious. I much prefer Snowy White's guitar work as well as his stage persona... very no-nonsense. I remember seeing him doing some of the backup guitar bits when Floyd played THE WALL at the L.A. Forum. Good reliable guitarist.

"Sit down Mr. Muckle, honey."
