The cool points are out the window...

Yeah, that line that Eugene Levy asked Steve Martin to tell Queen Latifah, I think it was "The cool points are out the window, and you got me all caught up in the game" or something of the sort. She replies when Steve Martin says it that that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to her. Does anyone have any idea what this actually means? :x Cause I got no clue.

this is my opinion.

by "the cool points are out the window" means he doesn't care if it makes him look uncool to say what he feels for her and "you got me all wrapped up (caught up) in the game" means he really really likes her.

The bonus features on the DVD have an interview with Steve Martin and the rest of the cast. He said that because slang changes so much and they were making this movie to be released a year or more later, that they just made up alot of the slang words, and he used the "cool points" line as an example.

Are you serious? You mean that line (both parts of it) isn't real street slang?

It's all over the internet now; I had no idea it really originated in this movie.

. . . . . . . .

that's not true... cool points are a slang term that was being used when i was in high school (graduated 1993). so, cool points is actually a pretty old term. it couldn't have been invented in this movie. maybe it made it more known to others who didn't use that slang...

Yeah they definitely didn’t make up cool points, that was around in the early 90s. But I wouldn’t consider it street slang. I never heard anyone use it unironically though.

My assumption and I put this is most traditional way is that the courtship has ended and that he is already in love with her.
