I thought it was okay--but we need a drama set in the 80's

It could highlight all the good and bad things about the 80's, and have some comedy moments in it--without a laugh track.

I thought "That 80's Show" was pretty good, but probably because I liked Chyler Leigh so much--and wanted to see where that was going, and Brittany Daniel was so damn hot too. It was at least pretty funny every episode--unlike the other posters claim that they only laughed once.

The drama already existed. It was Freaks and Geeks (NBC) and it rocked. It portrayed the early 80s very good. Reminded me of my high school days.

Unfortunately, the folks that make up the Nielsen's thought differently and the execs at NBC, dumb as they are, cancelled it.

Why is it that every show we love (John Doe, The Pretender, etc.), the Nielsen's hate? And every show we hate (American Idol, JAG), the Nielsen's love? I think the whole processed is rigged really.

How do they know what we watch? And who are they sampling anyway...shallow teenagers and 70 year olds?

For the record, most of America does hate American Idol...they just haven't been able to come to their senses yet to admit it.

Hmmm, I've heard a lot about F&G. I thought it was a comedy though. Hmm.

There are some good funny parts to it, but its definitely classified as a drama. No laugh track and no gags or spoofs are involved. If you ever watched old shows like St. Elsewhere, then expect it to be a lot like that. Short story about Freaks & Geeks: Serious in nature, but funny too.

Freaks and Geeks isn't boring. To me, boring means no laughs anywhere - just straight forward stuff. American Dreams is like that, but its set in the 60s. If they were going to spin-off that series with another decade show, I think they'd tackle the 70s before the 80s.

The 70s had Vietnam, Watergate, and oil embargos...pretty serious stuff.

As good as the 80s were, I don't think it had as much serious stuff as the 70s had. There was even a mini-series on NBC a few years back called, "The 70s". They never made one on the 80s. Would've been a good idea I think though.

I'm sure they'll get to the 80s again soon enough...so as long as reality shows don't take over the world. If that happens, we have only ourselves to blame.

"If that happens, we have only ourselves to blame."

And then we'll go home to find ourselves on TV :S
