Very grim, hopeless.
Does this film really capture the hopelessness that such intellectuals and progressive thinkers had to endure in East Germany?
shareUm, not at all. If that's what you're looking for, try "The Lives of Others".
"This isn't TV, it's real life. Can't you tell the difference?"
"Sure - I just like TV better."
Oh ok. Lives of Others is very unrealistic, however. Seeing that multiple stasi agents were ALWAYS assigned to one case to prevent the exact kind of situation that occurs in this movie.
