'YOU HAVE TO KISS ME IN FRONT OF ALL THESE PEOPLE!' - stupid

I didn't like that part of the movie. Dave didn't like kissing his girlfriend in public, and that was treated like it was a bad thing, and a hurdle that he needed to overcome. The truth is, some people just don't like PDA, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you claim to love someone and then don't want to show them affection period, there may be something wrong with THAT, but there's nothing wrong with wanting to keep those kinds of displays behind closed doors. I'm a lot like that - I don't want to see people making out in public, and I don't want people watching me suck someone's face off either.

Yeah, that was the thing the authors wanted us to think but I also think it was cruel. That's like forcing someone with arachnophobia to touch a tarantula. Everyone has his personal issues and while some of them *may* be cured when you are forced to confront their fears, that certainly isn't the norm. Isn't love also to accept someone as he is, including his shortcomings?

Yes but the only reason Dave had a phobia of it was because of Arnie Shankman pulled his shorts down 25 years earlier while he was about to publicly kiss a girl. Buddy and Linda just wanted him to overcome that.

It seemed to me that the kiss was to show that he was no longer going to be passive, worried about what other people think. Him not doing PDA was just a small symptom of a much bigger problem.
