Joyce - Is she like that in real life?

(Is Joyce really a layabout, downer, and a parasite like she was portrayed in the movie? I would like to hope not because she helped Harvey in more ways than one!

Um, Harvey doesn't seem that great to be around either. They look perfect for each other.

Listen, we ALL have our flaws. Even Mother Theresa had hers. That doesn't overshadow the good she has done for millions around the world. This movie didn't hold back about depicting honest people (meaning they knew their flaws, but didn't try to cover them up). That's life, man. People have flaws. Sure she was neurotic and came from a crappy background and had her own quirks and controlling ways, but did that overshadow her as a person?

I hope not. Doesn't everyone get judgemental a tad too much these days?

I kind of got the impression that she was like a rebound for him, because remember his second wife left him at the beginning of the movie? I don't know, it just seemed like, to me, she was there to fill a void for him, because maybe he still missed his ex-wife? JMO.

I think his second wife left him in the beginning which was his life in the Seventies. He met Joyce in the Eighties if I remember correctly. That's a lot of time passing by to be a rebound thing. :-D
