DVD versions

I heard the dvd released here in the States is missing about 90 minutes. So I checked online stores in Australia and sure enough the film is a lot longer in the original release, unfortunately it is only for region 2 players. Does anyone know if there is a place here in the States that sells the extended 2 discs version?

The version I have is from Australia and is therefore region 4 (not 2)but it`s worth every penny! (I`m in Uk but have a multi region player!) It actually says `All regions` on the case but I know of friends in the US who bought it only to find otherwise! They have however been able to watch it on their computer DVDrom drives!

I don`t think it`s available in region 1 - sorry! It`s two discs and around 3 hours in length as it was originally shown as a two part mini series.

Thank you for the information. :) I feel so bad I can't see the full version. I thought of buying one of those machines, but now I am not sure from what you said.

Thanks again

It`s plays on a multi region player just fine! It`s just that it says `All regions` on the disc and doesn`t play on a `fixed` region player which it should! I think it may be a misprint! it reqlly does give you a lot more back story......a friend typed up a list of the differences on a forum I visit a while back! I`ll see if I can find it for you!

It plays on my new region one dvd player and TV we just got this year, but not on the older dvd player and TV it replaced. I remember reading somewhere that 0 or all region dvd's will work on some of the newer dvd players and TV's but not all of them.

At the very least the dvd will play on your dvd drive on your computer. The dvd is marked "All Regions".

I have a JVC dvd recorder and the Aussie dvd played fine on it fine (on an NTSC tv).

Is there anything in there about how the mother died?

No wait, Don't Tell Me! Someday I will go to Europe and watch this film and the German film Pope Joan -- also with David Wenham and which is NOT available in the US -- so don't tell me.

The original version is available in Europe, right? The regions confuse me.

The short version of this movie was excellent anyway. I thought it was the best movie about a family dealing with a traumatic past that I've ever seen. I'm trying to remember all the other ones and can only come up with these:

This Boy's Life
Prince of Tides
Rachel Getting Married
Ordinary People

Obviously there are lots more but I can't think of them. Help?
