If anything, he'd be proud of it? He wasn't 'knocking around' with anybody; he was doing a job, asking some searching questions (witness him leading Jimmy into explaining why he lies about hating kids... ) and exposing a little bit of how weird Savile was in his personal life... Sure, he didn't uncover everything (he's not a detective) but he tipped many people off about just how weird he was, and encouraged viewers to question Savile's persona deeper...
As a journalist, the most fascinating interviews come from the people with hidden depths... and you can definitely say that about Savile, to say the least!
