It looks really interesting but i can't seem to find any info about it. If you've seen it please post.

Saw it last weekend, loved it. I was born and bred in Aldershot so it has special meaning for me. It was filmed at Longmoor where a lot of war films have been done, although having been away from the area for nearly 40yrs it was hard placing some of the scenes

reply

saw it on dvd yesterday

really enjoyed it

great interplay netween the 2 characters

and teh situation looks more real than a alot of war films

was left scratching my head as to whether it was real - until the final credits - whic lists the 2 characters history after the war

well worth seeing

won't change your life but it is better than most filsm

This is a real gem of a film. Very funny, very poignant, beautifully acted, shot and written. Sadly not released for distribution in the US, I've an idea that this will gradually become popular in the same way as "The Shawshank redemption" did after a lacklustre release.

Totally reccomend this as an excellent little film.

reply

i went and saw it with the lead actor's wife (a neighbour) - yeh really good

reply

That is where you're wrong - it was distributed in the U.S., and I saw it in an Angelika Film Center, a theater that is known for showing odd films. The next day it was out of the theater, and it was never released on DVD to my knowledge. Glad I got to saw it when I could!

Wait, no, it was released on DVD in the US, and can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/Two-Men-Went-Kenneth-Cranham/dp/B000B7MXFW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-8393340-5150502?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1178398987&sr=8-1

i have, and absolutely loved it. It was a little slow to start, but i did love the frequent use of things happening which become much more obvious later. like the "did you hear that" near the railway, and the "did we do all that", after leaving the listening post.

It's made its way to America and although at first it seemed just another boring British semi-comedy, I must say that it got better and better as it went along and by the end of it I was enthralled.

reply

beautifully constructed film, eminently believable, not the pretentious americanisation, just watched it on national geographic channel, its simply a really good movie.

I haven`t seen this in a while but I do remember being a trifle disappointed that such a remarkable story (if true)was played for laughs. The crucial scenes in France were sorely lacking in tension & pretty unbelievable quite frankly-a real shame as the story deserved better.

reply

Yes. It was on cable TV this evening (the 11th day of the 11th month) in the UK, History Channel.

reply

I just watched it. It was never going to be a blockbuster, but it definately wasn't a waste of my time. I enjoyed it, but i do wonder how true it follows what actually happened. Good film.

Great movie, Just saw it camera work is excellent landscapes are beautiful. A little too romantic for a war movie but I think the reason for the film is not to give a clear view on the war. 8.5/10

Neat little movie. Ken Cranham is great.

It's on now on BBC2,found it by accident, not a bad little film very easy to watch.

To die,to be really dead that must be glorious.(Bela Lugosi)

Boring, but watchable

reply

Boring? No. This was a gentle tale of two men in real life. Never, ever, boring.
If you want escapism...CGI....& all of that nonsense, stick to fiction. Easy.
Each to their own. We'd probably disagree about the ideal Pizza.......But, hey!

I really enjoyed the film and it has some cracking lines and lol moments but it's a bit understated and restrained, even for a British film.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.
