Anyone know the ending????

My father was watching this movie on TV the other night and right at the end it tells you what happened to the two guys, 1 got a military award, but as the info on the younger guy came up I was in front of the TV and he missed that bit, I was just wondering if anyone can remember what happened to the younger guy, we know they never saw each other again but that all, if anyone can help I would be very grateful as this might just put a stop the "fat arse in front of the screen" comments!!!!!
Many Thanks

The younger soldier spent a month in a military prison.

The younger one, Leslie Cuthbertson, became Deputy Mayor of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and died in 1995.

what i can remember is the old one got the medal and moved to new zealand but died in the 60s and the young one came an honourary member of some place near newcastle and became involved in being a politician or council member

Hi Beverley, you've probably found it yourself by now....sorry for the late reply, but I only watched it last night.....(I'm in Chile;
The information at the end was as follows:

This film's closing prologue states: "King and Cuthbertson never saw each other again. Sergeant Peter King was transferred to active service where he won the MC. He was awarded the DSO in Korea and finally promoted to Major. He retired to New Zealand and died in a motoring accident in 1962 . . . Private Leslie Cuthbertson was transferred to the Durham Light Infantry and also survived the war. In 1967, he was made Deputy Lord Mayor of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He died in 1995."

Think you will agree, it was a most enjoyable film.

Best regards.
