I rewatched this for the first time since I originally saw it, and its a pretty good movie imo if you like either of the titles mentioned above. Basically its relgion influenced supernatural thriller/suspense. I dont mean it preaches a religion, just that the supernatural aspect of the respective films is based on/taken from the Judeo/Christian religions. On the flip side if neither of the two movies appeal to you this is unlikely to as well.

I loved The Ninth Gate and thought that Constantine was decent but struggled with The Sin Eater.
For some reason, I just couldn't care about any of the characters: as someone else mentioned-no one seemed remotely surprised at the amount of weirdness that occurred.

On a separate note, I'd put Dark City in with the other films, despite it not being religious. It has a similar vibe to this one in the way that it's almost dream-like...

Oh and there's a film called Franklyn that is similar in atmosphere. Very...different but mesmerising, nonetheless

I would agree, I enjoyed the order. The Ninth Gate would be my favorite of the 3.

I agree that if you liked Constantine and The Night Gate then you will like this movie. I just noticed that I have a list of the 20 most underrated movies I have seen, and Constantine and The Order are both on my list. I am not sure why but it is true.

I just noticed I also have Lord of Illusions and The Devil's Advocate on my underrated movies list along with Constantine and The Order.

I liked Stigmata more. The Order has a really bad script and some ropey acting even from Heath who was normally so good.

Ninth gate is a 10/10. Stigmata was good, but was a long time ago I saw it. This movie sucked pretty much. 5.5/10
