Hype and hiss

I don't get it. I like to watch extreme indies every once in a while in the same fashion that many of us like to go to ogrish or rotten. This film, though, it isn't extreme, just cheap with a lot of overly-long scenes and tons of audio hiss.

Comparing Scrapbook with other movies is tough, since few do anything like this. The closest is Toe Tag Pictures August Underground films, which, comparatively,\ Scrapbook is a Disney film. Emily is a good actress, but nothing here is nearly as extreme as an insexx or Max Hardcore video. Insexx is all BDSM, most of it done with one camera and no plot, and it is sexually charged and more brutal than this movie. And Max Hardcore, well, he needs to burn in hell.

Scrapbook is all hype. The only part of any review I read that rings true is, again, that Emily is a very good actress in this role. When the special effects are this bad, then you need to have a good director and editor. The only time that editing contributed to the story was in the barn during the toes scene. Beyond that there is little care or artistry used in the final product. Subtlety seems to be a dirty word with this group, and subtlety is one of the main things that could have taken this film above average indie.

Ive seen both Scrapbook and AU and dont agree that AU makes it look like Disney. OK, the special effects in AU are far better.

I'm curious as to why so many people are trying to defend this movie. It's okay, and that's saying a lot.
