I can completely see him as Ted Bundy, not that he looks like a seriel killer, bu i mean Bundy didnt either--so cary elwes is perfect! anyone know if it's going to be on television again or released on video? or just pics, im really curious how he did! thanks!

I'm a damsel, I'm in distress, I can handle this. Have a nice day! ¤Allie¤

Hello,

There is a good site for the movie. http://www.aetv.com/riverman/

I think he did a top notch job, and to me he resembled Ted a lot look wise. I saw this movie on at 2am on A&E last Saturday night (Sunday morning) and I reccommend it. Hopefully the dvd will be released soon so you can watch it, but I'd keep checkin the tv guide until then.

I actually had a chance to see Bob Koeppel and he said that Elwes' performance shocked him because it was just like watching Bundy. I've read the book but haven't seen the movie. I've got to see if Netflix has it or if it's going to be shown again soon.

If you go to www.titantv.com you can make an account that shows your TV service. It shows a TV guide specifically for you and you can customize it to show whatever channels you want. Then, if you click on a show, you can say "Show other air times" and it lets you know what other days/times the show is playing.

I don't know about a dvd release but I rec'd this movie a 10 and if it's ever released I plan on buying it.

I was in college when Bundy started killing and had lived in florida for several years when he was caught. I followed the case very closely from the alpha to the omega - and most folks know he represented himself in his trial down here so there's oodles of newsreel footage of him.

Now that I've told you all this stuff you no doubt don't care about, I'll say that Elwes is so much like Bundy I actually shivered during the first interview with Greenwood's police captain.

I mean it totally creeped me out, like he was channeling Bundy.

*not that he looks like a seriel killer*

Bundy asks this question; "What does a serial killer look like?"

Don't think that you could tell - Because you most certainly could not.

I'm a true crime fan and have read a lot of books on Bundy.

Elwes is a fine actor, but he was not meant to play Bundy. Bundy requires someone who can stuff emotions deeply and bring them out at unexpected moments. He requires someone who can play a person reflecting the emotions of others while manipulating them to get what *he* wants. That is what Bundy was like.

Elwes played him as if his creepiness and emotion bubbled close to the surface all the time. He played Bundy transparently. Bundy was not transparent. Elwes wasn't bad, but he wasn't all that good either. Bundy simply wasn't a good role for him.

Edit Update: Wow! I just read the other responses! I'm surprised - Particularly by the person who said she watched a lot of footage of Bundy *during* his trial. (I have too, but not in the time reference of which she's speaking. I watched it after the facts.) As far as someone watching Riverman, I'd go with their opinions - Mine are all second hand!

I'm leaving my opinion here because I stand by it because I still feel the same, but give it a watch and decide what you will, eh?

Mea Culpa!

Just an FYI, and you're entitled to your opinion, and I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong, but just to shed some light on my **opinion**; what you have to bear in mind is that by the time Bundy got caught, his creepiness really **was** beginning to bubble up to the surface, that's pretty much how he got caught. Remember, the attack at the Chi Omega house wasn't his normal methodology, it was a very "flamboyant," viscous, bloody and rage-filled attack. Remember, he went into Chi Omega and bludgeoned those girls, he didn't strangle them quietly. And I think the fact that he was 4 days from excecution and that he knew the police officer doing the interview very well had a lot to do with the presentation. At that point there was no point in his even trying to manipulate anyone. And I kindof felt like, to a certain extent, he DID manipulate the cop into cruising the Riverman's killing ground, and really getting into his head.

That's just where I was coming from.

I think this Cary guy is a terrible Bundy. The lisp is the main problem but there's also the accent and voice as Teds was deeper and more British Columbia sounding.

Think what you will, but as far as Ted Bundy on screen, we have few alternatives. There was Mark Harmon in The Stranger Beside Me (which I still hope will one day be released on DVD), and he was pretty good...played the charming side of Ted Bundy very well. But he didn't really look like him, talk like him, or sound like him at all. Then there was Bill Campbell...who was a step down from Harmon. Followed by Michael Reilly Burke, who was absolutely terrible. Then, Cary Elwes, who was a huge step up, and gave the single most accurate performance as Bundy ever seen in a fictionalized account. So if you think Elwes was terrible, try checking out the other actors who've played him...they didn't even come close.

I watched this movie on DVD last night and today when my partner asked about it, I told him it was Cary Elwes' best performance yet, in my opinion! To sum up how I found his portrayal of Bundy to be... CHILLING! He had me feeling creeped out and given I watch thousands of movies, ANY actor who can do that, deserves my praise.

A MUST-SEE for ALL Elwes fans without a doubt!!!

Hope that helps! :-)
