Think about it. 2030' or 2040's Earth is invaded by an unknown alien race. Earth's soldiers fighting back. The first time you see Kane as a new recruit. The earth's poplution reduced to half as the strogg army grows stronger. Kane and his squad are send on a mission to the strogg mothership. The squad sucess, and the strogg retreat.
Good idea, but it doesnt really tie into the game, does it? I mean, most of the marines dont know what Kane did in his past, but if he single handedly caused the Strogg to retreat, wouldnt everyone know about that?

sharedo you know what i think would be a good idea? Quake movie as Doom 2 movie. think about it. Grim is the main star and time line and technology isn't that different, i mean u get a BFG and all that jazz in Quake so why not have the story as that a few years pass and an alien force rises to destroy earth. insert a bunch of marines to fight off the strogg (in the same was as they attacked the strogg planet in quake 2, you dont need to build up what happened) and so ensues an alien action war movie! hopefully with filmmakers staying away from Aliens as its template. no more copy cats! lol! what do people think?
also dont call the movie Doom 2, just call it Quake. Doom -> Quake

the doom game was about demons, the doom movie was not. somehow, recently, hollywood has refrained from making movies with cults/demons/anything remotely supernaturally evil. notice how the zombie movies are based on viruses. its sad and lame.
now, think what a mess they'd make of a Quake movie. Granted it features aliens, it'd basically be childish attempt. 'cos we all know somehow Uwe Boll
will get to direct it.
and come on, the Doom movie was almost as bad as The Marine.

Why not make a movie about Rhino Squad saving Dallas during the Earth invasion.
What gave me that idea?? Marines bring it up when they see you, that battle in Dallas is what gave Rhino squad it's rep amon the other squads...

Don't you people notice this *beep* when you play, or do you only focus on killing 'things' and don't pay attention to the plot, or anything else in the game?
Alot of reviews say Quake 4 hardly even has a plot, but thats because they dont even pay attention, the plot in quake 4 is casual for people who can't sit still for 20 seconds, but if you look close enough you can see a whole lot more in the lore of quake 4 if you pay more attention to whats going on and listen to the conversations in the game.
If i was going to make a Quake film, i'd attempt to plan it as a franchise. As much as i loved and adored Quake 1 with Shamblers, Fiends and Ogres, there's no story to work with so it would undoubtedly be based around the strogg universe. So i would structure it like this.
The first film would be about the invasion of earth, based on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, it would include things like Rhino Squad kicking Strogg ass in Dallas as mentioned above as well as a few other heroic encounters and the end would set the scene for:
Quake 2, which ironically would be based on the universe of Quake 2, but instead of basing it around the story arc of 2, base it around 4, that way we get back to Rhino Squad, which now have the legendary Matthew Kane added to their ranks. The film of course would ocassionally mention how a lone marine managed to shut down the big gun etc...which i would explain in an...
Animated prequel, which wouldn't be released theatrically, it would be a dvd extra with one of the other two films.
It's all very well that everyone wants to see a Quake movie as it's close to beating dooms ass although that analysis is debatable. You've gotta be careful that the story or even the film doesn't end up a clone of "Doom" and as much as I liked that film, it had absolutely no relevence to the game at all, the idea of genetics was pretty lame especially when we were all used to the teleporters opening up hell. So to the guy who suggested we carry on Doom and rename it quake, No way it would just be branded as dressing doom in another outfit. Best thing to do would be use the story of the strogg but have the ramblers, ogres and what not from the original, coz truth be told those were awesome opponents.
