Just seen yesterday "Monique".
It's the same topic, (how a relationship between a character and a doll affects the community that surrounds and love him) but nothing more.
Gillepie's film lets time to his character to evolve while Monique's writer just doesn't know what to do with these characters.
There is as much differences between these films as there is between a town and a city, USA and France, sensibility and heaviness, point and pointlessness, mastering and amateurism, contemplation and precipitation, etc.
No need to say which I like the most. Monique could have been better, but the result was just weird, I haven't decided yet in what the failure consists.
