'Dead Poet's Society'?

I recently rediscovered this movie and couldn't help but notice some similarities between this and "Dead Poet's Society." Has anyone else considered this/do you think it was intentional?

I don't think so. I also noticed the film's resemblance to Dead Poet's Society in terms of story and several aspects but I don't really think it's supposed to be that way. This movie is more personal for the professor played by Julia Roberts. In Dead Poet's Society, the character played by Robin Williams is more selfless when it comes to dealing with the students and more focused on the students and the institution taking a change than developing and solving his own personal conflicts which I prefer, btw. Robert's characters is too lifeless and boring she could've been a supporting role and let the girls become the main ones.
