Getting back to her roots!!!!!

It makes me very happy to see Kirsten Dunst going back to her roots. She is not the cand coated actress that has been used as just a pretty face in movies like Spiderman, Dick, Bring it on and every other movie she has made since The Virgin Suicides. Her roots are dramatic ones and those roots show her to be one of the best young atresses in Hollywood. The "Interview With the Vampire," which she holds her own against some of the most charismatic men of that and "The Virgin Suicides," which she is absolutely stunning and steals the show and refuses to give it back. She is good in "Crazy Beautiful" she had a terrible script and again that was still more of a troubled pretty face movie. No Dunst is a dramatic star and I hope this movie gives her the chance to show that to everyone.

She is -- she gives a really complex, idiosyncratic performance that is both funny and sad at the same time. I thought all the actors were good, but she, in particular, surprised me. And I wasn't the hugest fan before. Well, actually, it wasn't that I wasn't a huge fan, it was just that I didn't realy think either way of her.

AGreed!

This film proves once and for all that she is not the airhead other films may protray her to be.

I went to see this film STRICTLY because she was in it,and she did not disapoint.

God, thank you for this post, it made my day. I love Kirsten very much, but recently, it seems like everyone else hates her.

Well, I wouldn't call this movie one that returns Kirsten to her roots, since that would depend on what her childhood was like. But I would agree that she has good instincts for tackling interesting roles and does a more than credible job of bringing her characters to life. She does well in both comedy and drama, but will face some challenges ahead in attaining full stature as a first rate actress. Fortunately she is willing to learn from the best. One way to compare her with some of her contemporaries is to see her performance in Mona Lisa Smile. I thought she was outstanding there.
