I've heard him make jokes right on his show about how they have to slather him with makeup to make his pale complection show up well on camera. He says things like they have a big bucket of makeup and a brush ready to go moments before he walks out or he'll curl up his sleeves and show the pale skin on his arms. So what you asked wouldn't surprise me a bit. Pretty much everyone needs to wear a little makeup in studio television or else the bright lights can reflect off their skin or weird stuff like that. Different cameras and lights make people look entirely different.
