Saddest movie of all time?

Yes this movie is very emotional even if you have read the story before hand, as I have done. There is one other film that does come close in the "sad" department, and that is "The Little Match Girl(British, 1986)" with Twiggy & Roger Daltry. What's really sad, though, is that both these excellent motion pictures are difficult to come by and hence have so few votes.

yes, this and "Hotaru no haka" ("Grave of the Fireflies" from 1988) are surely the saddest animes of all time ...
