Yeah. If you change the language to English (which is how my parents and I watched it - we got the DVD) it becomes HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

A Very Different Type Of Vampire Flick!
Tsui Hark's "Vampire Hunters" is a strange brew of hopping zombies, levitating vampires with bizarre supernatural powers and kung fu fighting vampire hunters. I guarantee this vampire flick is unlike anything you have seen in American and European horror movies. Worth a look!

Barack Obama 2008!!!

the same type of vampire movie has been done 100 times in China. it's a shame that Hark was involved in this. this guy has lost it.

Well, this movie is one of those flicks that are so over-the-top that actually are quite entertaining. A "good bad" flick. 'The Era of Vampires', simply put, is "pulpastic". The quintessential Hong Kong B film.
Anyway you gotta be in the right mood in order to enjoy the excess of cheese.

I found this film to be mediocre, but not horrible. That's why I'm giving it a 5/10.

It is a great movie. The only reason why it gets bashed to death is because it uses to much eastern culture.
For non asian people that arent used to watching asian vampire movies, hopping zombies, flying vampires and what else come over as a bit ridiculous.
Not to mention the near lack of CGI and use of puppets and ropes and lots of smoke is something people arent used to anymore. Only CGI in Vampire Hunters was the snake and the exploding gas.
People are so brainwashed with CGI they are not expecting to see a vampire movie with loads of strange stuff happening that has no blue screens green screens all sorts of color screens and instead have a bunch of puppets suck "blood" out of other puppets. And forget why movies are made in the first place, to view or listen to a story, not to go oooh and aaaah in awe when watching pixelated empty crap.
This movie tells a story, it doesnt show the latest computer generated technology, if thats a reason to not like it, be my guest, ill take this over any CGI vehicle anytime.
The flaw of this movie is that there is so much going on it requires a second view, tbh, first time i wasnt to impressed either, it seemed very hectic, changed my opinion very fast, this is probably one of the best vampire movies to have come out in last decade. Being fan of martial arts helps too of course
