5.2?!?

why is movie rating that low, I just watched it and thought it was brilliant. I just checked the Rottentomatoes ratings and they gave this film 81% (6.7), and 92% (7.0)...and usually there ratings are lowered than IMDB's

Because people here don't know how to rate movies, and they've rated it WAY too high? This is truly a horrible, horrible movie. It rates a 1.0 for existing, and that's generous.

As a former marching band member, I'd give it a 10 for the bands and the music, AND Orlando Jones. For the acting of all others, it would definitely be a 1.

I agree. In comparison to other teenaged "you can do it" inspirational films of sport and music, this is one of the best. The acting is above average, the story is original, given the context, the music is enjoyable and the sheer numbers of talented teens that were hired was impressive.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

its at 5.4 now but still expected it at least be in the high 6.0's going by how black films are rated on here

Ths is a formulaic sports movie, with a retheme to marching band/drum lines.

Have you ever watched "The Program" - the story is basically teh Omar Epps subplot from that film, set in an HBC band, but with a low talent hack in the lead.

So it's a formula film, which should put it into the 6-7 range, but it has a terrible lead, which brings it down to the 3-5 range, but has some great supporting cast members, so a 5-6 is really a fair rating.

It's a fun movie, but certainly not better than average.
