That made no sense. Was this movie even remotely about Dracula?

I was hoping for a story about Elizabeth and the old Dracula. This sucked...and not in a good way. All I got was Scott Jason lees ugly smirk for the entire hour fortyfive minutes.

I'm not a fan of Jason Scott Lee, and I was CERTAINLY not a fan of Dracula 2 ascension. However, to my utter surprise, I found this to be very entertaining. I simply loved Rutger as Dracula, the point was to keep him away until the very end, make you feel a little like the characters, when they finally do find Elizabeth and Dracula, they both end up dying, everything twisted, Jason became what he hunted, jason london ended up having to kill Elizabeth to save her soul, and Dracula basically hung up his cloak...we don't often see this(certainly not in mainstream hollywood movies) I think it was straight up for once and not diluted down for a larger audience. Maybe try watching it a few times, or maybe it's just not for you. But if it's bugging you that you couldn't enjoy it, I'd keep at it. Because there is lots to enjoy, even for someone like me, who the odds for likeing this we're very, very low.

Was this movie about Dracula?

In my opinion, no. This movie was about two clichès kicking in the bad guys' teeth. But since the Dracula-figure of this movie was a really bad one, maybe that was for the best.

If you want to see a well-played Dracula, see Nosferatu by Werner Herzog. Gary Oldman also makes a decent appearance in "Dracula" (1992); http://imdb.com/title/tt0103874/

And OFF COURSE you must experience Bela Lugosi as Dracula, absolutely marvellous.
