What happened to the Ticket?

At the end of the movie should of ending up different what happened to the Lotto Ticket did they give it to the person who owned it or did they end up keeping it it was like hang cliff?

The ticket owner was a criminal, I think of death row. I remember him being taken somewhere by prison security when he heard about the winning numbers. They didn't believe him, and he was never able to come forward. The Brady parents cashed it and used it to build homes for the homeless, which is what caught the attention of the media and President Randolph.
