Dont ya think this movie sounds a little too familiar

I saw this movie on cable the outher night. I found it to be an almost compleatly and unbelieveably and sadly a total rip off of the Friday the 13th
movies. Clues: a kid named jayson died..Hmmm...A parents revenge...Hmmm...
The killers wearing a mask and overalls...Hmmm...I saw a machette there!!!...Hmmm...All happens in a camp...Hmmm... Well no room for originality here!! I love the Friday series except 8. This is a sad moment in horror history. Can you say plagiarism? WOW!!

Hi,

i haven't seen this film but it does sound like one big rip off!! i am a massive fan of F13th and have just finished watching up to number 9 and am watching the nightmare on elm street series to prepare for F vs J and then Jason X.

Just out of interest, why weren't you keen on number 8? i thought it was a fantastic idea to get jason into a city. i thought number 9 was ridiculous and think they shouldn't have done the whole 'eat jason's heart to be him' thing and should have kept it with him terrorising people in his true form - hockey mask and machete, not white coat and scalpel!!!

also, is it just me or is the book that steven finds at the vorhees house the book of the dead from evil dead?

reply

Part 8 was horrible. Cheesy, lame death scenes, not even remotely by any imagination scary, debases the entire premise of the series. Much like 9 x and fvj were. These movies were stinky piles of poo!
Also, x was more like watching a futuristic commando movie than a fricking jason movie.

It's called HOMAGE.

reply

That's not HOMAGE, thats RIP OFF, there's a difference. HOMAGES are usually small references to other movies. This film does not reference little things, they rip off BIG things.

It was the best rip off or friday in a long time

Never Seen This Part 2 of BLoddy Murder, but yet in a way arent all horror movies kinda the same here are some examples:

1) keep getting killed.... but they keep coming back

2) michael myers, jason & leather face wear masks

3) always a sex scene of some sort

I mean they arent the best examples but they are some similarities, like aaron1991 said it is one of the best rip offs the first one that i seen is good i must watch this one

" Your Doomed, Your All Doomed ", "It's Got A Death Curse!!"

theres been other friday 13th movie rip-offs ??????? (80's and 70's don't count)

reply

There's a countless amount of blatant Friday the 13th rip offs. The first one is even worse than this.

If someone already hasn't mentioned this, I think this film and it's first one are meant to parody the Friday The 13th series which is why I liked them.

But alas, I still think the third film in this series should not be made but I bet 100 bucks it will be and I will most likely rent it!

So you don't like Bloody Murder 2 because it's a rip-off of Friday the 13th, but you like Jason X? People killed of one by one in a spaceship, didn't we already see that in Alien? Hmmm....

Actually I can say that's a rip-off, because "people on a spaceship getting killed off one by one" goes right back to Alien, it may not have invented that element, but it did make it popular...and if there was no Alien there would be no Jason X or any of the post-Alien 'spaceship based' horror films. Just like if there was no Friday the 13th there would be no 'summer camp' based horror films. And even though Halloween didn't invent the slasher genre if there was no Halloween there wouldn't be all the post-1978 'killer in a mask stalking teens' horror films. Just like all the post Night of the Living Dead 'undead' films, all of the post Jaws 'killer animal' films, all the post Texas Chainsaw Massacre 'cannibal family' films, all the post Exorcist 'posession' films...none of the films I mentioned invented those elements, but they were popular and as a result all the similar based films came afterward.

I'm not saying rip-offs are all bad, some of my favorite horror films ripped-off other horror films, but I do doubt very much when the guy was writing Jason X that he wasn't thinking of Alien as he wrote it.

Friday the 13 definitely would not have been made if it was not for the success of Halloween, but it's more of a rip-off of Bay of Blood.

I might be one of these people but the line does sometimes seemed to be drawn by how a some people like a film or filmmaker, like with Tarantino- the Tarantino fans say he's paying homage while the people who dislike him say he's ripping off.

I probably would have enjoyed Jason X on a 'so bad it's good' level, but I just couldn't get past the annoying female android, I'm not sure if it was the actress or the character.

I'm still waiting for Chucky in Space...

the best friday the 13th ripoff is probably The Burning. never seen the movie tho, i heard it was good.

reply

Yeah, the woods, Jason Mask, characters named Jason and Michael...and Elvis... but this is a movie that is kind of a tribute to those movies... it's by fans of slasher films for fans.

I thought it was a direct rip-off of Friday The 13th, too... but by the time it was over, I liked this movie.
