in the film anita keeps being called "bette" is that indian for dear or darling???

i thought it was Beta? anyway i think it is a term of affection. (not sure since not indian although almost all my friends are - i love Multicultural London!!-)

I am from India, and the word is said like "Bay Tea" ... Beti is how its written :)

It means dear daughter.
