Ending. What do you think it means?

I thought we were left to wonder, as the man is trying to decide what to do, knowing it is not the dog's fault and should the dog suffer yet again. Even if we think we know what we would do(and I do not), the consequences are far different for a black man in SA, even post-apartheid.

The weakest part of the film. The dog seems ok. The black man seems ok. The white man, off camera, is probably still dying of a heart attack (or at least suffering a severe angina attack since there are pills for it on the spot). Who even fired the shot? What if anything got shot? No idea.
