IYH: Buried Alive

Watched this one a couple of times, felt it was one of the weaker IYH's of the year. McMahon, JR and Lawler are commentator.

Match #1

Singles Match

Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley

Pretty good opener. Spoiled by JR's mic being cut out constantly and him complaining and McMahon and Lawler being a$$holes about it. Hunter is filling in for an injured Savio Vega. Too bad. When you think In Your House, you gotta think Savio Vega!!! JR is supposed to be EVIL here but in hindsight he was right, he was just the first to really enlighten everyone about MR McMahon. Austin tries a sleeper, Hunter counters with his own and gets a jawbreaker. Lawler makes light of Vince's shi&&y commentating and how he's been using the same shtick since 1985. Perfect wanders out to fk with Hunter by taking his valet. He gets into an arguement with Austin who throws water in his face. Hunter and Perfect almost fight in the walkway but Austin jumps in and he gets suplexed on the concrete floor. Austin manages to slingshot Hunter into the steel post and theyre both down outside. Back inside and a stunner quickly follows. I liked this stunner much more than the one where people sold it like he induced seizures. Good opener 2 1/2 stars. Perfect was supposed to face Hunter on Raw the following night, but was fake attacked by Hunter then got Mero to take his place, THEN helped Hunter beat Mero for the IC title THEN left the WWF!!! WCW booking at it's finest.

Match #2

Tag Team Title Match

The British Bulldog Daveyboy Smith and Owen Hart Vs The Smokin Gunns

Gunns last ppv. Billy is making one last feeble attempt to get Sunny back and Bart wants the tag belts but is kinda fkd by Billies interest in Sunny. Bart gets doble teamed. Davey holds him and Owen hits a missle dropkick. Davey gives him some rough turnbuckle treatement. Billy showboats on the apron for some reason then Bart accidently runs into him. No frikkin way they are gonna win. Gunns drop Owen with a double team move while Sunny watches backstage. Billy doesn't bother with a cover and the Gunns whail on Owen. Billy hits a poetry in motion on Owen then Bart tags in. Going for the sidewinder!! Bulldog mucks it up and Owen heel kicks Billy and pins him to retain. Another pretty good match. 2 stars.

JR s***'s a brick and blasts McMahon in the ring and takes credit for saving the WWF by bringing Bret Hart back. JR storms out. Faarooq is out injured so GD gets the IC title shot. Perfect comes out to take JR's place at ringside and the mic works fine for him. So??? JR is supposed to be the heel??? Wouldn't this confirm that Vince was being an asshat???

Match #3

Intercontinental Championship Match

Marc Mero w Sable Vs Goldust w Marlena

These two always worked well together. GD outside and Mero hits the tootie fruity, or is it the wild thing?? I forget. Mero gets in trouble and now were in the "heel controls until the comeback" portion of the match. Mero fights back and hits a moonsault but doesn't get the pin. Both guys running the ropes and Mero gets backdropped out of the ring, and here comes Hunter to start ****. Perfect and Hunter do theyre fake altercation. Mero manages to hit the shooting star press in the confusion to retain the title. 2 1/2 stars.

Match #4

#1 Contender Match

Psycho Sid Vs Vader w Jim Cornette

Winner gets a world title shot at Survivor Series. Michaels wanders down to sit in on commentary. Sid takes control to start dropping Vader with clotheslines then a 10 punch in the corner. Vader catches Sid then uses a weardown hold. Typical monster Vs monster match. Sid rallies and hits a chokeslam and gets the pin at 8:04. 1 1/2 star. Shawn comes in to congradulate Sid. Post match Doc Henrdix tries interviewing Sid but JR horns in on his action and takes over getting the blunt answers quickly.

Match #5

Buried Alive Match

The Undertaker Vs Mankind w Paul Bearer

No warmups. Both guys beat the **** out of eachother and fight down the aisle. Mankind with a neckbreaker on the cement floor. They fight up to the dirt hill then back to ringside and into the crowd. Taker knocks Mankind over the barrier back into ringside then dives over the railing with the flying clothesline. Taker goes up top and walks the ropes but gets crotched by Bearer. As they duel outside Bearer hits Taker with the urn which he nosells so Mankind bops him with a chair. Fighting on the dirthill again. Then back into the ring. Mankind knocks down Taker then tries a pin which doesn't mean sht in a buried alive match. Mankind double armhook ddt's Taker on the chair which doesn't get much of a reaction. Taker up right away and he slams the chair accross Mankinds back, then places it on Micks face and legdrops the chair!!! Mankind tries the wedgie piledriver on the floor but Taker backdrops him instead. Taker moving furniture. He throws the steel steps in the ring. Battering ram on Foley's face!!! Then accross the back!!! Taker kills him with the tombestone. Taker drags the carcass to the grave and Mankind wakes up to put on the mandible claw!!! Taker mustes his strength and chokeslams Mankind into the grave!!! Taker throws some dirt on him to win the match at 18:20!!! The Executioner (Terry Gordy) attacks Taker with a shovel then Mankind stirs and gets out of the hole. They throw Taker in and start to bury him and Hunter and Crush come out to lend a helping hand as spooky thunder and lightning goes on. Goldust comes out to help also along with Bradshaw. They fill in about half the hole after about 5 minutes. Everybody leaves then a lightning bolt hits the tombestone that would of scared the **** out of me if I was one of those people with a seat arranged anywhere around that grave. Taker's purple glove sticks up out of the dirt and the crowd cheers. Taker would return at Survivor Series in a totally different motif more resembling Batman. Im going 3 stars.

Overall Opinion: Pretty good ppv. Although nothing worth going out of your way to purchase or blow more than $25 on, unless your a completionist (like me). Austin, Hunter was the most memorable match for me, just for two heels opening the show for WWF was strange.

Final Score: Im giving it 3.2 out of 10 stars.
