Reminded me of the Dutch 'New Kids' movies and series

This film reminded me of a thing from the Netherlands called the "New Kids".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Kids

It was a series of short sketches:

..that spawned two films in 2010 and 2011:
New Kids Turbo - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1648112/
New Kids Nitro - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2043932

The similarities are really striking, although the New Kids, especially the two films, raise the absurdity to a new level compared to Fubar. But, arguably, the series of sketches that preceeded it was even more funny, and is more like Fubar in a way.

What Fubar is for this "Banger" subculture in Canada, the New Kids are for the "Gabber" or "Happy Hardcore" subculture in The Netherlands (and to a lesser extent Belgium and parts of Germany).

But like I said, the similarities are striking. The suburban environment, the mullets and moustaches, the beer drinking, the juvenile terrorizing of the neighborhood, the "grown up kids" aspect of the whole thing, teen pregnancies, the tragic illusions of grandure, and I could go on.

If you have a chance to watch some "New Kids" (with subtitles) in your own language, really, don't miss the chance.

Or check this trailer/videoclip for the first film (theme).

If you understand any Dutch at all, you could do a YouTube search for "new kids sketch":
